Alex has been crowned Wizard of the Year after saving the world from the Angels of Darkness, as well as being reinstated in the Wizard Competition, thus a banquet honoring her achievement is hosted. When [[Chase Riprock]] shows up to give her a congratulatory hug, it is misinterpreted by the media. At the banquet, a short battle ensues between Mason and Chase. Alex breaks up the fight, and is forced to choose either Mason or Chase. Appalled by Mason's behavior that evening and the fact that he did not trust her when she told him nothing was happening, she breaks up with him. Chase asks her out, but she tells him that she got out of her previous relationship "literally a second ago". She then accepts her award and goes home.

Instead, he goes off on a tirade on how he should have won instead of her, as he tutored delinquents, created his own spell, saved WizTech twice, and prevented Alex for nearly destroying the world many times, whereas Alex only saved the world once. At the banquet, Chancellor Rootie Tootietootie tells Justin that he has placed some members of the Wizard Council up front to hear Justin's speech and that they should be swayed to reinstate him in the competition. Justin then attempts to sabotage the holographic player but fails, and shuffles off the stage in embarrassment.

Meanwhile, the other Russo family members are asked to make a holographic video stating how proud they are of Alex, but when Justin makes a negative video explaining why he should have gotten the award, he tries to redo it.

Mason then stands Alex up on the night of the banquet. Mason then comes to the banquet to apoligize, but notices Alex with Chase, and Mason attacks Chase. Alex then breaks up with Mason for not believing her, and decides not to date Chase. Meanwhile, Justin is mad because Alex has won the award, and yells in the video, but then finds out that is able to get back in the wizard competition if he had said nice things on the video, which he hadn't. Mason gets extremely pissed, and rapes Alex, therefore exposing her to everyone. She is shown to have a purple vagina and Dora the Explorer underwear. Mason gets sent to monster jail afterwards.

"Wizard of the Year" is the sixteenth episode of season four of Wizards of Waverly Place, and the ninety-seventh of the overall series. It first aired on July 8, 2011.

Summary

Alex has been crowned Wizard of the Year after saving the world from the Angels of Darkness, as well as being reinstated in the Wizard Competition, thus a banquet honoring her achievement is hosted.
