"I wish you and Dad had never even met!"-Alex, The Movie
The ability to grant a desire or hope to someone is a common power to very powerful magical creatures. This power is usually associated with Genies but Wizards, if in the presence of very powerful items such as the Russo Family Wand, can grant themselves wishes. Spell improvisations can also grant wishes.
Alex misuses this power by creating an alternative reality where her parents have not met, meaning that she and her siblings would soon be erased from existence. However, this universe was undone by using the fabled Stone of Dreams.
Genies also posses this supernatural skill but they pick up the wish and turn it into something people never wanted in the first place. This causes a lot of magical problems.
