"Smarty Pants" is the first episode of season two of Wizards of Waverly Place, and the twenty-second of the overall series. It first aired on September 12, 2008.
Synopsis
After a little set up accident, Alex joins the Quiz Bowl, an academic game, with her best friend Harper after she gave Nellie a hair-raising buzzing shock accident. To give the team an edge in the Quiz Bowl Competition, she wears the "Smarty Pants," which gives a superior knowledge on everything there is to know. However, her knowledge might ruin her friendship with Harper. Meanwhile, Max and his friend, Alfred, attempt to sell bottled water from Tribeca Prep's water fountain since everyone liked how the water tasted but they then realize they could refill the bottles from the fountain.
Production Notes
Trivia
- This is the first time Theresa attempts to teach a wizard lesson.
- The new character Dean appears in this episode.
- On the chalk board in the lair it says "Wizard Wear Lesson 201" which is the episode code for Smarty Pants.
- The part where Alex asks Dean, "Whatcha' doin'?", is kind of like Isabella in another Disney Channel series, Phineas and Ferb, where Isabella (or at least someone) says that in every episode.
- Side Effects from prolonged use of Smarty Pants are: (according to Justin) headache, nausea, rash, chronic giggling, belly button bubbles, say it don't spray it disease, tongue reversal, ear gas, sweaty knees, Picasso face, problems with the bow... (he falls asleep midword when Alex places the NightCap on his head) Later, when Alex steals the Smarty Pants the Alarm adds skeleton legs, smelly feet, yellow tongue, flakey hair, oily lips, scaly pits...(then Alex puts the Smarty Pants on and becomes smart enough to know how to shut the Alarm off)
