A Phantomus is a species of smoke monsters that hunt young wizards by tracking their magic. When a phantomus possesses a wizard it's hunting, the wizard is never seen again.
Characteristics[]
Phantomi are green humanoid ghost-like creatures made entirely of smoke and gasses. Their faces are mostly featureless, save for a pair of glowing green eyes. They primarily hunt wizards, though the exact reason why is unclear. Phantomi often travel by assuming a gaseous form, which allows them to go undetected by mortals.
History[]
A male Phantomus first appears at the Ghost Hound bus stop after Billie leaves the Russo Household. After Billie and Justin leave, it appears, stating he senses a young wizard's magic and that it would soon be his, before disappearing.[1] After Billie uses magic multiple times and Roman steals Billie's wand, the Phantomus emerges from a vent and possesses Roman. As Billie declares she's the wizard and Roman isn't, the Phantomus releases him and tries to go after Billie. Before he can, Justin and Giada emerge and Justin uses a spell to expel the monster. The Phantomus states now that Billie has been found, they will never stop coming for her. Before the monster gets away, Billie expels the monster into Giada's purse and is taken to the lair.[2]
