The Cucuys, a latin magical creature

The existance of magical creatures and of magic itself is largely unknown by ordinary people, and most creatures either live amongst the masses or live in magical dimensions.

History

In the distant past a highly advanced civilization known as Atlantis ruled most of Europe and North Africa but at some point it sunk below the seas.

After the fall of Atlantis, humanity would rise again guided by Wizards, who possibly used their powers to help humanity in it's early scientific conquests. But, due to the misuse of the powers by some Wizards, the non-magic humans turned against them. The persecution would be so great that Wizards created a parallel, but independent, dimension adjacent to Earth. Soon other magic creatures followed and, without any proof of the existance of magic left, humans would embrace science.

In 2011, Earth was shaken by two events:

In a no so distant future, magic will be exposed to the world.

Biology

Most magical creatures resemble humans or mainstream animals, such as lizards, eagles, lions, wolves, and so forth. Actualy most magical creatures seem to be the mixure of ordinary animals, such as Dragons who mostly resemble a large lizard with the addition of the horns and the bat wings.

Others, such as the Cucuy, are mostly humans except when they supernaturally shift to their cucuy uggly face.

Magical Powers & Abilities

Obviously, the most important and widely known property of magical creatures is the fact that they posses magic and supernatural powers. Some creatures powers can be specific, such as the Dragons ability to breath fire or the vampires ability to turn into a bat.

Other powers are rather unspecific, such as Wizards ability to do almost anything through spells. Some magical creatures might not posses actual powers and just have their strenght, agility and speed increased, but always above human capability.

Type and list of magical creatures

This list rather is uncomplete.

Here are some of the magical creatures that appear the most over the series.

Wizards

Main Article: Wizards

Wizards are people born with the power of making words turn into reality. Wizards seems to posses very little magic within their body, needing a channeling tool called wand to channel a great deal of magical energy, which seems to be produced in a place called the Wizard Power Panel, which by turn is powered by the Wizard Power Plant. If the Wizard Power Panel or the Wizard Power Plant are desactivated, they automaticaly lost their magic, though their powers seems to remain with them.

Vampires

Main Article: Vampires

Vampires are people who suffer of vampirism, gaving them enhanced senses, ability to turn into a bat, flight and superspeed. Vampires need to drink human blood to sustain their youth. Vampire culture is rather gothic-like and seems to praise a dungeon-like lifestyle.

Werewolfs

Main Article: Werewolves

Werewolves, like Vampires, suffer of a magical decease, but it's rather lycanthrophy than vampirism. Like vampires, it gaves them enhanced senses but they rather turn into a wolf rather than a bat, and they can't fly, but they can run at a almost superspeed level. Werewolf culture is pagan-like with a praise to moon and the seasons, and werewolves tend to have a short temper.
