"Justin's Little Sister" is the 12th episode of season one of Wizards of Waverly Place, and the 12th of the overall series. It first aired on March 9, 2008.

Overview

When Alex gets annoyed that everyone is constantly comparing her to Justin, she makes a wish with a Genie that her family and teachers will stop comparing her to him. Instead, the Genie cons her, causing everyone except Alex to forget who Justin is. Alex messes up her last wish, turning Justin invisible. After explaining the situation to Jerry, Max manages to confuse the genie and she gives him one free wish, in which he wishes for the reset button, which allows them to reverse all damage done by the Genie.

Summary

The episode opens up to wizard training and Jerry brings out a genies lamp. Alex being her usual self is eager to get wishing, but is stopped by Justin. Jerry scold her saying that if she was more like Justin she would have read the handout and would know that realised genies are very tricky. At school Mr Laritate is giving what some may call a pop quiz, if a pop quiz involved the teacher giving the answer to the question to the students 'in' the question (even though this seems neccessary since the students still show difficulty answering the ridiculously easy questions). However when it's Alex's turn the teacher asks her an 'actually' difficult question which she cannot answer, Mr Laritate is dissipointed that Alex is not more like Justin who could have easily answered the question. Tired of the constant comparions to Justin, Alex uses the genie to wish that she would no longer be compared to him, but when the Genie cons her and makes everyone forget him, Alex has to try to reverse the spell.

Production Notes

Continuity

• Alex and Harper have History class together, which is taught by Mr. Laritate in room 116.
• The freezer door flashes to transform into the lair again as Alex walks through.
• Theresa mentions that Justin looks like her brother Ernesto, who later visits in "Uncle Ernesto".
• Alex jogs her parent's memory the "old-fashioned" way, but later on in "Third Wheel" she's a learned a spell for it.

Goofs

• Continuity: Justin says he's been in Chemistry all semester, however in "Report Card" he says he's in AP Biology.
• When Alex is talking to Harper about Justin and realizes that no one remembers Justin, she is near her locker. She never closes it, but she walks over to Justin. In the next shot, her locker is closed.

Trivia

• First time we see the inside of a classroom.
• When Max pushes the reset button, the old Mac startup sound and the genie saying, "This thing undoes all the wishes" are played backwards.
• Both Justin and Jerry are revealed to like the New York Jets
