"Hugh's Not Normous" is the eighteenth episode of Season 2 of Wizards of Waverly Place, and the thirty-ninth overall of the series. It first aired on April 12, 2009.

Synopsis[]

After being confronted about her selfish and self-centered behavior, Alex decides to do something nice for once by helping Hugh locate his biological parents—Hugh explains that he's always known that he was adopted, but had always assumed that his biological parents were giants as well until learning that he's just regular-sized boy.

In the end, Hugh's biological parents turn out to be a married couple named Lou and Mary Lou Finemore—after meeting in person, Hugh's biological parents assure Hugh that they've always loved him and that pretty much the entire reason that they gave him up for adoption was so that he could have a better life. Mr. and Mrs. Finemore elaborate by explaining that they don't have a lot of money and felt that they wouldn't have been able to give him a proper upbringing, so they gave him up for adoption so that he could be adopted by a family that would be able to provide for him. Hugh's very moved by their story and is happy to finally meet his biological parents--during their interactions, Hugh that he primarily takes after Lou in his physical-appearance while inheriting Mary Lou's orthopterophobia (a fear of crickets/grasshoppers). One thing that Hugh and his biological parents take note of is that, despite being "regular sized," Hugh's noticeably taller than both Lou and Mary Lou, with Lou jokingly stating that Hugh's a "giant" compared to him and Mary Lou.

After Hugh decides to introduce his biological parents to his adoptive parents, Hugh and the Finemores thank Alex for reuniting them and Hugh says that what Alex did was the nicest thing anyone's ever done for him.
